Retail, hospitality and leisure businesses Businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors may be eligible for a cash grant of up to £25,000 per property. Premises occupied for "personal use" will not qualify. Beach huts, moorings and private stables are given as examples. Car parks and parking spaces do not qualify. Decisions about personal use will be taken by local authorities. If you have received a non-domestic rates demand notice, this is normally a good indication that this premises is not treated as occupied for "personal use". Premises which have closed temporarily due to the government’s advice on COVID-19 will be treated as occupied for the purposes of this relief. Discretionary grant fund An additional discretionary grant fund has been set up by the government to support some of the small businesses who were not eligible for the business grants scheme and have ongoing fixed property-related costs. This fund is significantly smaller than the previous coronavirus related grants and will only be available to support a small number of businesses.
